John Denver is a popular artist and musician who has touched many people through his music. Most of his songs have roots in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in affection with Colorado and then settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems are a source of inspiration for people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever to be inducted. Denver has been the symbol of the state to everyone around the world. People you meet in different countries, such as New Zealanders, and they tell them "I am Colorado" and they say "I am from Colorado" and they instantly respond by saying Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short period of performing with small folk-based bands was Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff was credited with Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the tune, however Denver discovered that it was destined to be a huge hit after he heard an earlier version. Just a few days after singing to an enthusiastic crowd at Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
